Fauabu Children's Ward _ Project Completed 2012

Fauabu clinic is 60 mins north of Auki, the provincial capital.

It is in the process of being upgraded from a clinic to a mini hospital, but unfortunately it has suffered from a lack of maintenance due to budgetary restrictions.

The Children's ward at Fauabu is a case in point, most of the masonite walls have been eaten by white ants, there are powerpoints that literally hang off the walls and most if not all the mattresses, beds and equipment are in a dilapidated state.

The Rotary club of Tamworth Sunrise has registered the clinic as a project under the banner of RAWCS ( the international service arm of Rotary).

The club recently raised $20000  from donations and by hosting a local trivia night to pay for materials for the renovation and repair of the childrens ward.

We visited the clinic in May and June of 2010 and completed the renovations of the Childrens Ward as well as improving the Pharmacy Building and plumbing in the Maternity Ward. (that now has running taps for the first time with both hot and cold water.)

We are always interested in people volunteering to provide practical assistance either as a labourer or tradesperson.
